It’s true we sew up our catalogue on a 1951 Singer sewing machine, but we’ve got a foot in both centuries. Just in time for holiday gift-giving, Random House has released the ebook edition of SFS, the Southeast Independent Booksellers’ Cookbook of the Year! With 120+ recipes, full-color photos and packed with stories about growing up in the Lowcountry, it’s the perfect gift for your favorite ipad/kindle/mobipocket/microsoftreader-packin southern food lover! See your favorite bookseller today for details.
In case you missed it…we wrote a story about Marilyn Monroe’s stuffing recipe for last Wednesday’s New York Times. We found the stuffing recipe in a new book called Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters by Marilyn Monroe. The recipe was written in her own hand on a piece of note paper some time in the 1950s. So we tried it…and LOVED it. Click here for the full story!
We’re thrilled that 4 superb cookbooks published this Fall use Lee Bros. recipes: Southern Foodways Alliance Community Cookbook has our Boiled Peanut and Sorghum Swirl Ice Cream, Bobby Flay’s Throwdown! Cookbook has our recipe for Country Captain, The South Beach Wine and Food Festival Cookbook rocks our Strawberry Buttermilk Ice Cream. And Amanda Hesser’s humongous The Essential New York Times Cookbook: Classic Recipes for a New Century includes Matt’s Brisket with Tomato Gravy and Sour Cream Ice Cream. Check ’em ALL out!
We had a blast serving up our Fried Chicken and Sunday Collards with Katie Lee and Elizabeth Karmel. Paula and gospel singer Maryel Epps were amazing–pulled us out on stage and even got us singing! In case you missed out on the fun, find cool photos of the event here.
This Fall, we’ll be appearing live in Baltimore, Columbus, New York, and Florence (SC, of course!). Check our tour schedule for dates and details and come see us in person. This week, we go back into the studio to tape Season 2 of “Unique Eats” on The Cooking Channel, so we should have air-dates for you shortly. And we’re working on two more books so we’ve got our hands full! Check back with our website regularly, friend us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter–@theleebros–for updates.
We’ll be performing Saturday, August 28th at The Upstate Women’s Show in Greenville, SC. Our cooking demonstration: “Mac-tastic! Strategies for Mac-n-Cheeses that Rock!” is on the BI-LO Cooking Stage at 1PM. We’re also appearing at 5PM on the E Stage Sponsored by HRC Medical Center. Very psyched to have prep-support on the cooking stage by the G’ville cookware store The Cook’s Station, site of an epic Lee Bros. demo Spring 2010. Hope to see yall there!
