Thank you, Smoke!
Posted on May 21, 2010 7:21 pmSmoke Southern Barbecue Revival is truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant in Blythewood, SC! After the “Take on the South” taping, Tom, Heath, Dan, and the gang hosted a positively epic dinner at their roadhouse/backyard-woodpile/performance-shed/fire-pit after the taping. Heath’s kitchen rocked a menu from Simple Fresh Southern: Garlic-Chile Soft Shell Crabs! Ambrosia with Shrimp! Duck with Raspberries and Rose! Oh, and let’s not forget the pick-your-own suckling pig and lamb stations, too. Wildflowers on the tables, awesome live music, and a first for us: a bellydancer performing at a booksigning (definitely won’t be the last!). Thanks to all the guests and performers. And for those who didn’t make it off the wait list, we will definitely be back at Smoke soon!
Columbia, SC was a Blast!
Posted on May 21, 2010 7:16 pmMany thanks to Walter Edgar, SCETV, and the Institute for Southern Studies at USC for inviting us to appear on “Take on the South,” debating our friend John T Edge, director of the Southern Foodways Alliance, on the subject: What is REAL Southern Food? The show premieres July 10, 2010 on SCETV, and on other Public Television stations throughout the South thereafter. We’ll post air-times/dates for “Take on the South” on our website, Twitter, and Facebook when available.
